In 1974 after working in the scale industry for some time, William H. (Hank) Shearman founded the company under the name W.H. Shearman Scale & Equipment Company. Shortly thereafter, Harold L. (Hal) Pease joined the company as Hank's partner and the name changed to Shearman-Pease Scale & Equipment Company. Harold retired from the business in the early 90's and passed away in 2006. After a couple of years in business Hank invited Dale R. Olsen to join the company as a third partner. Dale had been working in the industry previously and he had extended experience as a "truck scale mechanic". Dale worked with the company until he passed away in 1993.
In 1980 the company purchased and moved into their current facility located at 1012 Wall Rd in El Paso, TX and it was incorporated in Texas as Shearman-Pease Scale & Equipment Co., Inc. Hank Shearman was elected President. After running the company for almost 40 years Hank retired from the scale business and sold the company to Javier H Luna. Javier started with the company in 1987 as a service technician and has been involved in every aspect of the business for over 25 years.
As technology evolved scale equipment was integrated in to process control, manufacturing and other industrial applications. In 1990 the company name was changed to Shearman-Pease Scale Systems to reflect this technical aspect of the business.
Providing quality industrial scale equipment from reputable manufacturers has always been one of the company's philosophies. In 1974 Howe Richardson choose representation by Shearman-Pease in the region. Howe Richardson was one of oldest and well known manufacturers of scale equipment in the world. This association was instrumental in the success of Shearman-Pease. Howe Richardson was later bought by Avery/Weigh-Tronix, one of the world's leaders in scale technology. We have been exclusive Avery/Weigh-Tronix distributors since 1978 in West Texas, New Mexico and Northern Mexico.
